"Latch" is a song performed by Sam Smith. The version with group Disclosure gave Smith is first taste of fame, and the acoustic version appears on his Nirvana EP and on his studio album In the Lonely Hour.
Background and release[]
Disclosure originally thought that "Latch" would not be a good radio song because of the tempo. Also, when they heard Sam Smith's voice for the first time, they thought he was a woman. "Latch" performed well in the United Kingdom and reached No. 11 on the Singles Chart by the end of 2012. However, "Latch" did not become popular in the United States until 2014 when it reached No. 9 (almost two years after its release).
